Delivering Transparent LAN Services to a Large Educational Network over the Metro Ethernet Network

Extend the Metro Ethernet network over existing PDH/SDH infrastructure to deliver transparent LAN services to a large regional educational network

RAD’s FCD-E1L managed E1 access units can transport 100 BaseT traffic transparently across E1 lines, which in turn feed into the PDH transport network. The devices are manageable from a central site and incorporate a fault propagation feature, which signals that the E1 line has dropped and enables automatic switchover of the Ethernet switch or router to a backup network connection.
