RAD Introduces Version 2 of its IPmux-11 TDMoIP Pseudowire Gateway

Ideal TDM-over-IP/Ethernet/MPLS Solution for Alternate and Incumbent Carriers Serving Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

RAD Data Communications has introduced version 2 of its popular IPmux-11 TDM over IP (TDMoIP®) pseudowire gateway.

RAD’s IPmux-11 TDMoIP pseudowire gateway reduces operating expenses by delivering TDM, data and LAN services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) over IP/Ethernet/MPLS networks, while ensuring strict priority for TDMoIP traffic over the network link. “End users continue to receive all familiar services, while carriers and service providers maintain revenues from legacy services,” notes Ron Agam, Senior Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications. “The compact size, ease of installation and support for multiple legacy and next generation Ethernet and IP-based services make the IPmux-11 ideal for alternative carriers wishing to offer leased line services over packet switched networks (PSNs), and incumbent carriers seeking a migration solution to packet infrastructure,” he adds.

New and Enhanced Features

Version 2 of the IPmux-11 TDMoIP pseudowire gateway offers several new and enhanced features. It encapsulates TDM traffic over MPLS as well as UDP/IP, for example, enabling a static handoff to MPLS networks while saving up to 24 bytes of overhead per packet. In addition, a resilient system clock with a fall-back mechanism supports TDM equipment requiring synchronization between all E1/T1 links.

The IPmux-11 TDM pseudowire gateway answers the growing need of SMEs for transparent LAN services (TLS) such as LAN-to-LAN interconnection and Ethernet connectivity to service providers.
