The protocol for tunneling TDM traffic through PSNs must support n x 56/64 kbps, unstructured T1/E1, structured E1/T1 with and without Channel Associated Signalling (CAS), T3/E3 and TDM in AAL1 and AAL2 networks. The PSN layers supported by RAD's technology include UDP over IPv4 or IPv6, MPLS, L2TPv3 over IP or pure Ethernet.

For reasons of simplification and consistency with previous versions of marketing nomneclature, RAD is using the generic name of TDMoIP to describe specific implementations of the technology.

TDM over IP (TDMoIP) technology, developed and pioneered by RAD, is an evolutionary approach for transporting circuit-switched telephony and legacy data (sync and async) over IP and Gigabit Ethernet networks.

TDMoIP transparently converts T1 or E1 circuits into IP packets for transmission over high performance IP-based backbones. It maintains all the features and functionality of today’s class 4 and 5 switches and SS7, PRI and other signaling protocols end-to-end across the network. The TDMoIP products deliver voice, fax, modem and data services over IP networks without compromising quality.
