E1/T1 and Ethernet Optical Multiplexers

Optimux-108, Optimux-106: E1/T1 and Ethernet Optical Multiplexers

Product Summary

The Optimux-108 and Optimux-106 E1 or T1 and Ethernet optical multiplexers transport four E1 or T1 lines and 10/100BaseT Ethernet traffic over a fiber optic link, extending Ethernet, voice, data and video services for enterprise connectivity and cellular backhaul.

A pair of Optimux-108 or Optimux-106 devices provides a simple, low-cost solution for connectivity up to 120 km (74.5 miles). The Optimux-108 can also transport V.35 high-speed data traffic.

Typical users of the Optimux-108 and Optimux-106 optical multiplexers include transportation and utility companies, government and universities, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and carriers extending data and voice from SDH networks or backhauling cellular traffic.

For increased reliability, an optional modular second link provides automatic backup upon link failure. An optional second power supply provides power redundancy for failsafe operation.

The competitively priced Optimux-108 and Optimux-106 are a compact, 1U-high, half-19” standalone units.

Benefits

• Low cost, long-distance E1 or T1 and Ethernet connectivity

• Large range of optical options available; can be used in any fiber optic network

• Compact size reduces co-location costs

• Single fiber (WDM) option reduces fiber optic cable costs

Further Product Information

Four channel E1 or T1 and Ethernet multiplexer

The Optimux-108 multiplexer combines four E1 links and 10/100BaseT Ethernet or V.35 high-speed data traffic over a fiber optic link. The Optimux-106 combines four T1 links and Ethernet traffic over a fiber optic link.

A pair of Optimux-108 or Optimux-106 units offers simple and low-cost connectivity for four E1 or T1 channels at distances up to 120 km (74.5 miles).

An optional secondary link provides backup using automatic switchover upon link failure, and an optional secondary power supply provides power redundancy and fail-safe operation.

Reliable E1 or T1 transmission

The Optimux-108 and Optimux-106 E1 or T1 and Ethernet optical multiplexers transmit each of the E1 or T1 signals independently, keeping the clock of each E1 or T1 channel independent from the clock of any other E1 or T1 channel. The E1 interface can be 75Ω unbalanced or 120Ω balanced. The T1 interface is 100Ω balanced.

Various optical interfaces are available:

• 850 nm VCSEL for use with multimode fiber

• 1310 nm for use with multimode fiber

• 1310 nm or 1550 nm laser short or long haul for extended range over single mode fiber

• single mode over fiber option

Configuration, monitoring and maintenance operations can be performed via a dedicated Ethernet port, using either an ASCII terminal, Telnet host, Web terminal or an SNMP management station.

The SNMP management supports:

• RADview for PC

• RADview for HP OpenView UNIX platforms

To facilitate system diagnostics, the Optimux features LED status indicators, AIS alarm generation, recognition, and dry contact closure upon link failure.
